A Torah Path to Healing and Community in 2017

December 21, 2016 Sharon Free

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, let us come together and  join author and workshop leader Janette Hillis-Jaffe who will talk about using Torah wisdom to deepen connections within the Jewish community and improve our own health. This interactive workshop is for anyone who wants to get healthier in any way, for example, to lose weight or overcome illness. We will explore the Mussar principles of Bitachon (Trust) and Hishtadlut (Effort) as well as use reflection exercises, success stories, and medical research to:

  • Create personal health goals and objectives
  • Begin to develop a rich support network to support our health
  • Explore how to overcome obstacles to healthy habits.

Janette Hillis-Jaffe is the author of Everyday Healing: Stand Up, Take Charge and Get Your Health Back . . . One Day at a Time and a sought-after speaker, trainer, and coach. She has a Masters in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health and spent hundreds of hours studying the health care system, the mind-body connection, nutrition, and counseling during her successful effort to heal from a six-year, debilitating autoimmune disorder.

Rather than prescribe a specific treatment or health regimen, she gives people the tools and skills to find their unique path to health and stick to it. Janette has studied Torah at Nishmat, Yakar, and MaTan in Jerusalem and currently lives in Sharon, MA, with her husband and two sons.

*Janette will also give the same talk on Wed. December 14 at 8 pm at Young Israel of Sharon, 100 Ames Street, Sharon, MA; all are welcome.
(RSVP by 12/13    sandy@Yisharon.org)

Additionally, she will be leading a follow-up, 6-week group in Sharon on Wednesday evenings on Torah, Healing, and Community, sponsored by Hebrew College, starting the first week of 2017. Stay tuned for more information.
