Don’t miss “A Woman Walks into a Bar: Surprising Tales of Rabbinic Betrothal” with The Rabbinical School of Hebrew College‘s Rabbi Dr. Jane Kanarek, who will will lead an hour of Torah study on the weekly portion during Shabbat morning services at Congregation Mishkan Tefila.

Following services, Rabbi Kanarek will lead an exploration of rabbinic marriage, examining laws of marriage through the lens of Talmudic stories. Texts will be in Hebrew and English, geared to serve all learning levels.

She is the author of Biblical Narrative and the Formation of Rabbinic Law as well as the co-editor of Learning to Read Talmud: What It Looks Like and How It Happens. She is a member of the Rabbinical Assembly’s Committee on Jewish Law and Standards and a proud alumna of KI’s Nursery and Hebrew Schools.

The program is presented as part of the adult education collaboration between Congregation Mishkan Tefila and Hebrew College.
