Adult Learning Class on “Evil” – begins March 2, 9:30 a.m.  At the heart of Judaism is the pursuit of goodness and the good life. Yet obstacles abound. In the realm of nature, we observe cancer in infants, schizophrenia, and senility. In many ages, we’ve felt the boots of oppressive tyrants from Pharaoh to Haman to Hitler. We witness “senseless” tragedies like Newtown and the Boston Marathon bombing. In our own lives, we encounter self-defeating behaviors. What are the philosophical and practical strategies that Jews have employed to explain, acknowledge, and transcend the evil that confronts us at every turn?  The class begins on March 2 and continues on March 9 and 16, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.  It is taught by Rabbi Frank Waldorf, who served Temple Sinai for 30 years as spiritual leader and  became Rabbi Emeritus in 2004.
