The Vilna Shul is excited to offer a robust offering of High Holiday programs. An all-access ticket includes all of our programs and allows you to pick a new year’s celebration that speaks to you at this moment.

High Holiday services (in-person and broadcast live): Join us for High Holiday services with Rabbi Benjamin Lanckton and soloist Deborah Melkin. Services will be non-denominational, egalitarian and broadcast live. We look forward to worshipping with you. To learn more about our clergy, click here.

  • Monday, Sept. 6: 6:30 p.m.: Erev Rosh Hashanah
  • Tuesday, Sept. 7: 9 a.m.:  Rosh Hashanah High Holiday Service
  • Wednesday, Sept. 15: 6:30 p.m.: Kol Nidre
  • Thursday, Sept. 16: 9 a.m.: Yom Kippur High Holiday Service
  • Thursday, Sept. 16: 6:30 p.m.: Neilah Service with Havdalah and Shofar

Holiday programming for families with young children (in-person): Sing, dance and play your way into the new year with musician and song leader extraordinaire Evan Haller, founder of Music at The Blissful. Our holiday programming is geared toward families with children ages 0-5. Older siblings and grandparents are welcome to attend! This program will be held on our outdoor patio and is in partnership with Honeymoon Israel.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 7: 10 a.m: First Day of Rosh Hashanah
  • Thursday, Sept. 16: 10 a.m: Yom Kippur

Tour of The Vilna Shul (in-person): After the conclusion of services on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, join us for a tour of Boston’s last remaining immigrant era synagogue. We will learn more about the rich history of Boston’s Jewish community and the art and architecture of this historic building.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 7: 12:30 p.m.: First Day of Rosh Hashanah

Meditation and mindfulness series (virtual): Set your intention for the year ahead. We will gather on the second day of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur for guided meditation and mindfulness. This program is designed to offer a quiet moment of reflection as you prepare for a new year.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 8: 7:30 a.m.: Second Day of Rosh Hashanah
  • Thursday, Sept. 16: 7:30 a.m.: Yom Kippur

Adult learning series (virtual): Looking for an opportunity to learn and discuss two central biblical stories we retell at the High Holidays? Join us for a two-part series to explore the stories of the binding of Isaac and Jonah and the whale.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 8: 5 p.m.: Second Day of Rosh Hashanah (“Don’t Be Caught Napping” – The Spiritual Significance of the Near-Sacrifice of Isaac)
  • Thursday, Sept. 15: 5 p.m.: Yom Kippur (“The Impatient Prophet and God’s Mercy” – Jonah’s Frustration with God’s Pardoning of Nineveh)
