Annual Shabbat in the Sukkah Celebration! 2014/5775

October 10, 2014 Boston $10.00

Friends, food, libation, and song. Join Havurah on the Hill for all of these at our annual Shabbat in Sukkah Friday night celebration!

The evening starts with a brief, lay-led, non-denominational kabbalat shabbat service in the sanctuary, followed by a kosher dinner on the main floor. Bring your dinner out to the patio to celebrate the holiday tradition of dining, reclining, and dwelling in our lovely Vilna Shul Community Sukkot. Then sit back, relax, take in the crisp night air, and enjoy the good food, good people, and some groovy holiday music played by a few of our own HOH community members.

PLUS: Sign up by October 10 for a chance to win a pair of movie tickets to see Boston Jewish Film Festival selection The Return at the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) in November. The film, directed by Adam Zucker (our November HOH Kabbalat Shabbat speaker), is a poignant documentary that follows several 20-something Polish women as they try to reclaim their cultural and religious Jewishness in a vacuum, with little knowledge of their long-buried heritage.

Schedule of the Evening:
6:30 PM Wine and Appetizers
7:00 PM Shabbat Services
8:15 PM Dinner and Singing in the Sukkah

**Please note, validated parking is available at the Charles River Plaza, on 181 Cambridge St Boston, MA 02114. Please validate your green parking ticket when you arrive at the Shul and return it to the manager when you exit the parking garage.

More about sukkot and Sukkot!
A “sukkah” (plural: sukkot) is the name of the temporary open-aired, thatch-roofed hut that is built for the observance of the week-long festival of Sukkot. The holiday commemorates the experience of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness after being freed from slavery in Egypt. Traditionally Jews eat, sleep, and generally live in the sukkah for the duration of the holiday.
