The Wiener Holocaust Library in London is holding a virtual panel discussion about a new book, “Antisemitism on Social Media,” that was published in March 2022.

The book is interdisciplinary, exploring case studies across different platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube. The book “addresses how social media with its technology and business model has [revolutionized] the dissemination of antisemitism and how this impacts not only victims of antisemitic hate speech but also society at large.” The book studies antisemitism weaponized by actors on the right, the left and the “extreme fringe,” while also looking at counter-strategies.

The co-editors of the book are Sabine von Mering, Ph.D., of Brandeis University, where she is a professor of German and women’s, gender and sexuality studies; a core faculty member with the Environmental Studies Program; and director of the Center for German and European Studies; and Monika Hubscher, a Ph.D. candidate at the Haifa Center for German and European Studies at the University of Haifa and research associate at the “Antisemitism and Youth” project at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.

Contributing authors include Armin Langer, Ph.D., a visiting research scholar at Brandeis’ Schusterman Center for Israel Studies; and Jakob Guhl, a manager at the London-based Institute for Strategic Dialogue.
