Elayne Klasson, the acclaimed author of “Love Is a Rebellious Bird,” will join Congregation B’nai Torah’s online Brown Bag Book Club to discuss her work with participants.

“Love Is a Rebellious Bird” is a tale of a 60-year love affair that “examines the age-old question of why we love the people we do.” It has been selected as a finalist for the National Indie Excellence Award in New Fiction and Next Generation Indie Book Awards in General Fiction, was selected as Best New Fiction from the American BookFest 2019 Best Book Awards and received the Goldberg Prize for debut fiction from the National Jewish Book Awards and the 2019 Sarton Women’s Book Awards.

Klasson has a master’s of public health and a Ph.D. in psychology. Her professional career has focused on academia at San Jose State University, with her research and clinical area of expertise being the severely mentally ill. She is a well-known lifestyle newspaper columnist and has appeared on San Francisco public television as a restaurant critic.
