BabsonARTS presents Cocek! Brass Band in a special one night only concert merging old and new Balkan brass music on October 8 (8 – 10pm) at Carling-Sorenson Theater at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. Tickets are $15 and $5 for students. For more information visit babsonarts.org or http://www.eventbrite.com/o/babsonarts-6049903943
Cocek! Brass Band is the brainchild of trumpet player Sam Dechenne. The band performs original music by Dechenne based on the sounds of Eastern European brass bands. They are a 5-piece group (2 trumpets, trombone, tuba and bass drum) that rocks the house on a very regular basis. The band’s members come from internationally touring ensembles like John Brown’s Body and Itzhak Perlman and bring a blend of dance music with stellar improvisation and melodies that evoke crazy dancing, contemplative thoughts and good times. The band just released their new CD “Here Comes the Shlomo.”
BabsonARTS offers a diverse array of programming in theater, dance, music, film, video, literary art, and visual arts for on-campus audiences and the general public at the College’s award-winning Sorenson Center for the Arts and Sorenson Family Visual Arts Center. It also supports the creative and performing experiences of student organizations while offering field-based learning opportunities for students working within business and liberal arts curricula.
