A guiding principle for our BJEP program is to teach our kids to act with kindness, love and justice, along with tikkun olam (repairing the world). While we teach these tenets, we recognize we can do more to combat social justice issues and to learn how to stand up to racism.

Join us to learn and see BJEP’s Jewish learning program in action.

Schedule:

  • 10 a.m.:  Welcome and introduction
  • 10:10-11:20 a.m.: Age-appropriate conversation with guest Billy Planer and BJEP@Home teachers (first through fourth graders, and fifth through seventh graders/teens)
  • 11:20 a.m: Closing songs
  • 11:30 a.m.: Program ends

Billy Planer is the founder of Etgar 36, an independent, pluralistic, nonpartisan and nonprofit Jewish educational program based in Georgia. Billy has adopted his program for these times and joins us to lead our students in discussion on the Jewish values of questioning, speaking up and standing up for yourself and others, and how we can use these values in our own conversations. Learn more about Etgar 36 in this New York Times article.
