Join author and Boston University professor Pnina Lahav as she discusses her book “The Only Woman in the Room: Golda Meir and Her Path to Power,” which tells the story of Golda Meir, the first, and so far, only, female prime minister of Israel. The book reviews Meir’s life and career through the gender lens, asking if and how gender affected her worldview and her approach to politics and how Israelis related to the fact that a woman was heading the government.

Lahav is a professor of law, emerita, and a member of the Elie Wiesel Center for Judaic Studies at Boston University. Her fields of expertise are constitutional law, first amendment law and legal history. She is the recipient of, most recently, the Israel Studies Award for Lifetime Achievement (2017) and the Prime Minister Golda Meir for Society and Leadership Award (2021). She is the author of the acclaimed “Justice in Jerusalem: Chief Justice Simon Agranat and the Zionist Century.”

A book signing will take place in the Leventhal-Sidman Community Court after the talk.

This program is offered by the TE Adult Learning and Israel Committees in celebration of Israel75.
