Join Uri Scheft, an Israeli culinary icon and the founder of Boston’s newest Israeli-inspired bakery, Bakey, for an interactive tasting, fireside chat and book signing. Dr. Shayna Weiss, a leading scholar of Israeli culture at Brandeis University, will probe Scheft on how his family’s journey from Denmark to Israel inspired him to become a baker and restaurant entrepreneur. Scheft has launched a wide range of successful Israeli bakeries in Tel Aviv, New York and, most recently, Boston.

This event will begin with an exciting sampling of freshly baked breads, babkas, bourekas from his newest bakery, located on Tremont Street, facing Boston Common. The conversation with Uri will begin at 7 p.m. and be live-streamed.

After the discussion, Scheft’s books “Breaking Bread” and “The Artisinal Kitchen: Jewish Holiday Baking” will be available for purchase and signing. Come for the sweets, stay for the story.

This event will be in person and live-streamed.
