Ma’yan Tikvah’s High Holiday services are unique because they are primarily outdoors, with opportunities for guided walks and services. Guided walks will focus on connecting to the natural world and the themes of the day and will include shofar-blowing, and on the second day, tashlich. Some walks will be geared to families and others more toward adults. Walks will be led by Rabbi Katy and education director Stephanie Kennedy.

The outdoor service will include Torah reading and key traditional prayers, including a shofar service. Between the service and the afternoon walk, there will be a communal picnic. You are asked to bring your own food and drink and to pack out what you pack in.

All ages are welcome to both walks and to the service. The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • 9:30-11 a.m.: Walks
  • 11:30-12:45 p.m.: Torah and shofar service
  • 1-2 p.m.: Communal lunch
  • 2:30-4 p.m.: Walks

The size of groups for the walks will be limited; you will be asked to provide your first and second choice of times when you register. Because everything is outdoors, Ma’yan Tikvah’s High Holiday plans are subject to change due to weather. You will be informed of contingency plans after registering and will be notified of any changes.

A food drive will benefit the Grow Clinic at Boston City Hospital.
