We’re excited to invite you to the second annual Challapalooza: Boston’s Jew-ish Music Festival, a joyful day of music, learning, food, and community in Cambridge.
Come for a few hours or stay all day as you wander between live performances, hands-on learning, local artists, and delicious food. The festival features Boston’s most joyful and genre-bending Jew-ish musicians, including:
- Levyosn (Yiddish song)
- The Ruth & Ben String Band (old-time)
- Somerville Symphony Orkestar (Balkan/global)
- Dor Herskovits Trio (jazz)
- Klezmer Conservatory Band
- And more!
Alongside the music, visit the beit midrash tent for short, welcoming classes and activities throughout the day — no background knowledge needed. Highlights include:
- Jewish weaving practices
- Yiddish prayers for your challah to come out unburnt
- Yoga
- Early halachic responsa on synagogue sheet music
- Talmud for teens (and the teen-curious)
Enjoy kosher food trucks, including The Hummus Shop, plus ice cream and locally made Wild Child Chocolate.
We’ll also host a challah competition, so bring your best challah creation — fun vegetarian flavors encouraged. The winning challah will receive a prize.
Browse work from local Jew-ish artists and makers, including:
- Ceramics
- Stained glass
- Herbal teas
- Local chocolate
- And more!
You’ll also have the chance to connect with local Jewish organizations and synagogues.
