Cross-Dressing, Costumes, and Sack Cloth: Clothing and the Meaning of Purim

March 9, 2014 Boston

Why do we wear costumes on Purim? Is cross-dressing permitted or even encouraged on Purim, and if so, why? Why is there so much focus on clothing changes in the Purim story itself? And what does all this tell us about the meaning of Purim?

Join Rabbinic Intern Sarah Mulhern and the Boston Synagogue Young Professionals for a rollicking exploration and discussion of texts related to Purim and clothing, and a peek into the themes of this topsy turvy holiday.

Refreshments served! Expert tip: this will prepare you for trivia on Saturday, March 15th. *20s & 30s only*

RSVP preferred by Friday, March 7th. FREE.
