“Nurturing the Next Generation: Cultivating Supportive Practices for Jewish Youth” is a brand-new e-course developed at The Jewish Education Project. This e-course is being launched as a cohort experience, with participants meeting four times as a learning community while navigating the online content.
This is designed for youth professionals, broadly defined: those working in teen philanthropy or a Jewish youth group or a Hebrew high program or confirmation class, and anything in between. While youth professionals of all professional stages are welcome and would benefit from this course, it will be most resonant with youth professionals who are early in their career as a youth professional, have recently transitioned into youth work from another area of Jewish life or field, or seasoned youth professionals who want to refresh their knowledge and understanding.
The course is divided into six core units:
- Adolescent development
- Being a supportive adult
- Effective communication
- Establishing boundaries and creating balance
- Enhancing the environment
- Integrating spirituality into our work
Participants will experience a variety of educational modalities that are designed to create an experience that is interesting, interactive, pedagogically sound, and fact-based. Each unit has multiple lessons associated with it. Some units will take more time and some less. Overall, the course is estimated to take between four and five hours to complete.
Session 1: Cohort Connection and Overview of the eCourse
