Join us on this winter evening and bask in the warmth of Torah scholarship.

Dr. Yael Ziegler teaches Tanakh at Michlelet Herzog and Matan. She received her BA from Stern College and an MA and Ph.D. in Tanakh at Bar Ilan Unversity. She lives in Alon Shvut, Israel, with her husband and their five children. Dr. Ziegler is the author of Promises to Keep: The Oath in Biblical Narrative. Her book on Megillat Ruth is due out this year.

Shuli Taubes currently serves as a faculty member at SAR High School in Riverdale, New York, where she teaches Tanakh, Jewish Identity, and chairs the Jewish Philosophy department. She has a Masters in Divinity from the Harvard Divinity School, where she focused on Scripture and Interpretation. An outstanding adult educator, she led Ma’ayan’s Women’s Beit Midrash for three years. This year Shuli is a Community Scholar at the Young Israel of North Riverdale where she gives shiurim and serves in a pastoral role. She lectures in synagogues throughout the New York area as well as at The Drisha Institute and Yeshiva University’s Midreshet Yom Rishon. She lives with her husband Ari in Washington Heights, New York.

This evening is being sponsored by Reva and Harvey Gertel in memory of Leah Zlate Levovitz, Reva’s paternal grandmother. Rebbetzin Levovitz was the founder of the Bais Yaacov of East New York in Brooklyn. She established this school for girls in the early part of the 20th century. Rebbetzin Levovitz dedicated much of her life to perpetuating this academic institution which educated young women in both Limudei Kodesh and secular studies.
