Like an old-school mic check, the gragger is a Jewish noisemaker traditionally used to lift up our voices in the name of liberation and justice. On March 11, Boston Workmen’s Circle is hosting its 10th annual raucous, radical Purim extravaganza, featuring DJ Lady Spindrift and Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band, and a creative retelling of the Purim Story (Purim Shpiel) based on social justice issues today.

Gragger is a chance to dress in costume, dance the night away, and celebrate your favorite Biblical feminists! Find out more about our Hamantaschen Baking Party and volunteer opportunities below.

Featuring:
8:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Live Music
9:00 pm – 10:00 pm: Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band
10:00 pm – 10:30pm: Shpiel: Radical Retelling of the Purim Story
10:30 pm – 1:00am: DJ Lady Spindrift

Cover is $10-20, sliding scale. Nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. 18+, 21+ to drink with ID. Event is wheelchair accessible. Cash only.

Come dressed in costume! Your zaniest, truest iteration of self!
* Racist costumes will be denied entry.
* Purim is often a time when people experiment with gender presentation. Gender play in the spirit of joy is encouraged, but not in the spirit of misogyny and bigotry against trans/GNC people.

Not sure about your costume? Ask Liz!

Help us bake hamantaschen for the big day! Thursday, March 9, 5:00 pm -8:00 pm at Moishe Kavod House, Jamaica Plain. RSVP to Anat for address.
