Sarah Schenirer rose from obscurity to become one of the most influential women in Jewish history. She successfully pioneered efforts to provide Jewish education for women, and her impact can be felt across the Jewish community to this day.

Join SVIVAH as we celebrate the life and legacy of Sarah Schenirer, pioneer of women’s Torah education, on her 87th yahrtzeit (anniversary of her passing).

Who was this woman? How did she become such an impactful revolutionary? What is her legacy for women today?

This HerTorah features Leslie Ginsparg Klein and Talia Weisberg, scholars of Sarah Schenirer and the Bais Yaakov movement, Basya Schechter singing some of the original Bais Yaakov songs. To learn more about Sarah Schenirer, check out Naomi Seidman’s excellent book, “Sarah Schenirer and the Bais Yaakov Movement.”

HerTorah welcomes all those wishing to be included in a circle of Jewish women and learners of all backgrounds. Questions? Email connect@svivah.org.
