Israel Lacrosse Boston Showcase

October 17, 2014

The Israel men’s national lacrosse team will visit Boston next month, with a pair of exhibition games against Harvard University and Boston University highlighting the October 17-19 event.

The weekend, which also features the blue-and-white’s Women’s Elite Team, plus girls and boys U-19, U-15 and Masters teams representing Israel, is being held in support of the launch of youth lacrosse programs in Haifa, which is Boston’s sister city in the Jewish State.

Team Israel players and coaches will kick off the weekend by joining the local community for a special Shabbat Dinner and Banquet at the JCC of Greater Boston in Newton, MA, on Friday evening the 17th. The family event will feature special guest speakers, video montages, and a huge array of items available via silent auction.

Israel, which recently earned a No. 7 world ranking following their quarterfinal appearance in the quadrennial FIL World Lacrosse Championships, is expected to have the core of their World Team in Boston — including players such as Seth Mahler, Noach Miller and Jacob Silberlicht, who will be making the 5,500-mile trip from Tel Aviv to Beantown.

Harvard is coming off a banner year in which it captured the program’s first Ivy League championship in 24 years and received an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament. The Crimson return 28 letterwinners from last season’s squad.

Boston University begins its’ second varsity season this Spring; the squad impressed in their debut season of Patriot League play in 2014, with almost entirely Freshmen on their roster, securing wins over Lafayette and Holy Cross.
