This program will teach students to employ crowdfunding for their fundraising campaigns. Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the internet. Students will learn in detail about all three stages of the crowdfunding campaign: preparation, running and follow-up.

The instructor will pay special attention to the communication skills, definition of the target audience, flexibility and financial and legal responsibilities. Learn about why and when you might need to run a crowdfunding campaign, plus:

  • Preparation: Goal, tasks, budget, target audience, platform and video and photo material
  • Running a campaign: Communication with potential sponsors, workload and success factors
  • Follow-up and fulfilling your promises: Analysis of the campaign and lessons learned

Instructors: Marina Abrams (crowdfunding) and Sasha Grebenyuk (independent project)

Upon completion of a three-session mini-course, all students will be offered a one-week independent crowdfunding fundraiser toward any program or any nonprofit organization of their choice. They can make up to five community hours working independently and at their own pace.
