Lawyers Without Rights: Jewish Lawyers in Germany under the Third Reich—July 2nd-Sept. 30th 2014

July 2, 2014

More than 70 years after its horrors unfolded, the Holocaust still has stories to reveal and lessons to share. One of those stories is how the Nazi regime in Germany issued a decree in March 1933 that limited and ultimately barred all Jewish judges, public prosecutors and lawyers access to the courts. The exhibition, Lawyers Without Rights: Jewish Lawyers in Germany under the Third Reich, reflects a time in Germany when individual rights and the rule of law were utterly neglected. Many non-Jewish German lawyers in those days kept silent. There was no real resistance. Most of them did not even try to help their colleagues.

The Vilna Shul is pleased to support this exhibition presented by the German Federal Bar in conjunction with the American Bar Association.

This compelling, international exhibit will be shown at the John Joseph Moakley U.S.Courthouse from July 1 through September 30. Group tour reservations will be available beginning July 15th. To request a guided tour please email jessica@vilnashul.org.
