Rabbi Alan Ullman’s alternate title for these study sessions with Jewish education professionals is: “How to Deal With Problems You Know You Can’t Solve.”

As Rabbi Nachman of Bratzlav taught, hope is one of the great spiritual virtues. We know there is much that is tragic and difficult in our lives and in our world. We often confront situations with no clear solutions, and sometimes with no possible solutions at all. Our experience of reality can cause us to feel hopeless, or to conclude that our hope may be simply false or illusory.

Rabbi Ullman will help us delve into the wisdom of our Torah to explore ways that we might deal with these situations. We will seek ways to connect with hope, faith and grace in our lives today.

Rabbi Ullman travels the globe teaching Torah. He teaches at temples, synagogues, churches, businesses, private study groups and retreats to people who share in the desire to study Torah as a way to guide and inform the spiritual journey that is our lives today. Through the wisdom of Torah, Alan helps people see the sacred aspects of our daily lives and how to unite the breath of life that resides within each of us with the wind-spirit of God that moves through all of creation. He also leads adult hiking/study trips to Israel, the Alps, the Canadian Rockies, the Grand Canyon, Sedona and St. John.

Rabbi Ullman was ordained by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute in 1985 and served as assistant rabbi at Temple Emanuel in Worcester for three years. In 1988, he founded the School for Jewish Studies, dedicated to teaching Torah to adults, which served as the foundation for his current work.
