The Open Your Eyes Fund at Temple Shalom in Newton is proud to announce the kick-off event for the Shine the Light initiative of 2014! Open your eyes to the beauty of light as it passes through colored glass by joining us for a guided tour of the Museum of Fine Arts Stained Glass and Contemporary Glass collections, followed by a wine and cheese reception in the Bravo Lounge.

Note: registration is not yet open to the public.

The Shine the Light initiative is a series of explorations designed to discover the beauty and power of light.

What happens when light passes through colored glass and lights up a sacred space? Why are we so moved by the beauty of the Chanukah lights? What is the significance of light in the Torah? What’s happening at the intersection of art and technology that can enrich our connection to each other and illuminate our Jewish lives?

Launched in March 2014, coinciding with the gift of extra sunlight courtesy of Daylight Savings, Shine the Light’s series of programs, workshops and learning opportunities will follow in the spring and fall of this year, culminating in a celebration of the arts and the power of light in December, as we prepare to welcome Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, 5775. Open Your Eyes to the beauty around you as a way of exploring Jewish life and our community.

Cost per adult includes admission, tour, reception, and parking in the MFA lot

Event Location: Museum of Fine Arts
