Mishnah study in Nashua

March 24, 2015

We are an egalitarian community of learners doing Torah Lishma – תורה לשמה – study for it’s own sake. We study the Hebrew Bible, תַּנַ”ךְ, and the classic texts of rabbinic Judaism, such as the Mishnah ( מִשְׁנָה ) and Midrash ( מדרש ). We are open to classical modes of study, drawing from the millennia of wisdom of classical rabbinic commentators, as well as modern modes of learning from non-Orthodox scholars.
We are always looking for new, friendly faces to learn, and have coffee, with us. We meet at Temple Beth Abraham in Nashua, in the Hebrew School bldg lounge, and are open to meeting in other places in the future.
Hillel said: Do not say, “I will study when I have leisure.” Perhaps you will never have leisure. – Mishnah, Pirkei Avot 2:4.

This is a favorite Talmudic story 🙂
Beruria once came across a student who was studying in a quiet, listless manner. She gave him a kick, and she said, “When you study, you should study with all the 248 limbs of your body!”
– Talmud, Eruvin 53b.
