The event is designed for girls grades 6-8 and their parents, and will center around Moving Traditions’ Bat Mitzvah Comes of Age exhibit, which highlights women who became the first b’not mitzvah in their communities.  Participants will learn about the evolution of bat mitzvah — how it emerged from a radical act, into a normalized tradition from leading expert Rabbi Carole Balin, Ph D, and think about their own Jewish practice through games and making wearable art.  The photo exhibit, curated in partnership between Moving Traditions and the National Museum of Jewish American History is currently on display at Temple Emanuel.

Participants will also hear from Eliza H, who recently supported Moving Traditions’ Women of the Wall project in Israel.
