Open House, Havdalah & Selichot
Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield announced that Rabbi Michael Luckens will be the religious leader for this year’s Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services. Rabbi Luckens will meet the congregation at a special open house followed by Havdalah and Selichot Service on Saturday, September 20th at 7:30 pm. High Holiday services at 120 Chestnut St, Wakefield will begin on Wednesday, September 24 at 7:30pm. The complete list of services will be found on the temple website.
Temple Emmanuel is a member of the Jewish Reconstructionist Community with the mission to bring meaningful and accessible religious services that will engage attendees. Reconstructionist Judaism is a contemporary, progressive approach to Jewish life which integrates a deep respect for traditional Judaism with the insights and ideas of contemporary social, intellectual, and spiritual life.
The congregation is open to all Jews regardless of marital status, race, national origin, gender, economic condition, disability, or sexual orientation. A new High Holiday prayer book has been purchased with all Hebrew alligned with easy to read transliterations and English readings.
Rabbi Luckens is the Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Kerem Shalom of Concord where he served as Rabbi for over 30 years. He worked with families to create a meaningful Jewish life, one of joy and Jewish identity and belonging. As Rabbi, he has written creative, gender-neutral prayers and services. He is a graduate of Temple University and Yeshiva University. He received his Rabbinical Ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Pennsylvania.
