To provide more opportunity for congregants to observe Shabbat and to socialize with one another, Congregation Beth Israel in Andover has instituted a program called “Shabbat on the Road.” This successful series of events is also open to non-members who might be considering affiliation with the synagogue, which is the only Conservative congregation serving the Lowell, Chelmsford, Westford, Andover, and Reading areas.
The congenial Friday evening get-togethers begin at 6:30 with a Kabbalat Shabbat service, followed by a kosher vegetarian or dairy potluck dinner. The attendees are asked to bring an appetizer, salad, main course, or dessert. The next dinner will be held on Friday, June 19 at a home in North Andover, and it will include the talented musical group Bashert accompanying the service. To learn more about the program, or to make a reservation, contact the synagogue office at 978-474-0540 or office@BethIsraelMV.org and indicate how many are planning to attend and what dinner item you will be bringing.
