As part of the “Spotlight on Antisemitism” series from the 92nd Street Y in New York, acclaimed journalist Shahrzad Elghanayan will discuss her new memoir, “Titan of Tehran: From Jewish Ghetto to Corporate Colossus to Firing Squad – My Grandfather’s Life,” in a virtual talk with Robert Reid.

Elghanayan’s book chronicles her late grandfather, Habib Elghanaian, and his rise and fall in Iran. Under the shah’s government, he was a prominent Jewish businessman and philanthropist. But after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, he was the first civilian executed by the new regime, on what Elghanayan calls “trumped-up charges of being a Zionist spy.”
