Join Ma’ayan for the Siyum HaShas for Women. We are completing Masechet Rosh Hashana as part of the worldwide celebration of women completing the Daf Yomi cycle.

Schedule:

  • 10:30 a.m. Registration
  • 10:45 a.m. Shiur by Rabbanit Gilla Rosen: “Thinking About Time: Conceptions of Time in Masechet Rosh Hashana”
  • 12 p.m. Light lunch
    • Livestream of Hebrew shiurim from Hadran in Jerusalem
  • 12:30 p.m. Livestream from Hadran of Dr. Erica Brown’s shiur in English followed by worldwide siyum
  • 1 p.m. Siyum of Masechet Rosh Hashana for Boston
  • 1:10 p.m. Rabbanit Gilla Rosen leads a study of the beginning of Masechet Brachot

Ways you can join the learning:

Motzei Shabbat, Jan. 4, at 8 p.m. at Young Israel of Brookline. Rabbanit Gilla Rosen will be teaching a special class on the 26th Daf of Rosh HaShana:

  • Can a witness become the judge?
  • Can a sin’s emblem become a positive symbol?
  • What the maidservant in the house of Rebbe knew on standing before God or bowing before Him

This class is free with registration for the siyum or $10 for class only.

About Rabbanit Gilla Rosen

Rabbanit Gilla Rosen was born in the United States and has been involved in Jewish education for over 30 years. She has a B.A. in English literature from Barnard College and an M.A. in comparative literature from the University of Manchester and has studied at Michlala, Nishmat and Matan. Gilla is the dean emeritus of the Yakar Center for Tradition and Creativity. Since making aliyah in 1992 with her late husband, Rabbi Mickey Rosen, and six children, Gilla has lectured at a number of institutions, including Yakar, Nishmat, Pardes, Lindenbaum and the Hebrew University.  She teaches Gemara, Midrash and Tefilla and serves as a Nishmat Halachic advisor for women. Gilla is an engaging and multidimensional teacher, best known for her outstanding ability as a Talmud teacher.

About the Siyum in Jerusalem

Hadran is the global forum for women’s Talmud study, dedicated to making Talmud study accessible and relevant to women of all ages and backgrounds. They are organizing the first global Siyum HaShas for Women with 3,000 people in Jerusalem, which will include livestreaming to be viewed around the world. Ma’ayan is proud to be participating with Hadran in this unprecedented event. The celebration of women’s accomplishments in the Beit Midrash, specifically in the study of Talmud, is historical and important. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!
