Ruth Zakarin, executive director of the Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence, will frame the work that is being done at the state level and how we can be involved.

Gun violence is a public health emergency, exacerbated by economic disparities. The comprehensive gun safety bill in front of the Massachusetts legislature currently, the Omnibus bill, has a robust set of regulations that addresses who can own and carry a firearm. Some main themes the Coalition is focusing on to see included in the bill are: addressing the trauma of gun violence, better regulation of ghost guns and more protections for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
