Join us for “The Legacy of Kristallnacht with Dr. Martina Emme: Learning from the Past/Creating a New Future.” Martina Emme, Ph.D., co-author of the one-by-one book “Journeys of Transformation: Confronting the Legacies of Conflict, War and Genocide,” will be joining us from her home in Berlin.
She will share her journey of coming from a country of perpetrators, where she was born into a family with Nazi believers, including her own beloved grandfather who was involved in Nazi crimes. She will also describe how the life-changing encounters with descendants of survivors led her to become a teacher who sees her task as educating the next generation about the lessons learned from the Holocaust. Dr. Emme will also talk about the projects she has initiated and share her vision: becoming guardians for protecting democracy.
