Part ritual, part performance, “The Shabbos Queen” is a new, queer take on an ancient Jewish ritual: Shabbat!

With inspirations ranging from Barbra Streisand to Sade to Kabbalah, “The Shabbos Queen” creates a sweet and kind of sexy stop from the fast-paced world. It’s an everybody-welcome evening for unwinding, dreaming and togetherness, offering a taste of the paradise to come.

The evening will kick off with Shabbat ritual and an introduction to “The Shabbos Queen.” No prior experience with Shabbat is needed. We will then meet other LGBTQ+ and allied folks from the Boston community through meaningful and intimate small group chats while enjoying food (and drink, if you so choose!) from the comfort of your home. The evening will end with an all-out dance party, so be prepared to get into the Shabbos groove through music that will set your mother-lovin’ soul free!

Presented in partnership with Jewish Arts Collaborative, OneTable, Riverway Project and Keshet. Created and hosted by Stuart B. Meyers and made possible by generous support from an Innovation Grant from Combined Jewish Philanthropies.
