The imagery of the Psalms evokes places, textures and sensual experiences and turns them into an arena for the soul’s travails. How do these images enhance our religious sensibilities? Do they follow tradition or break bold and new paths?

The 929 Project is a worldwide program, now in its second cycle. Participants are guided each day, five days a week, to read a chapter of the Tanach, and after 929 days they will have completed the entire Tanach. Keeping on schedule with the daily chapters is not necessary for participation in the class.

Each month we discuss relevant themes in the previous month’s chapters. Rachel facilitates each class and exposes participants to various texts, both Jewish and secular.

This remote class is open to women only.

Rachel Sharansky Danziger grew up in Jerusalem, where she completed degrees in philosophy and history and taught Tanach to new immigrants. Her MA focused on the way 18th-century American proto-evangelicals told their personal stories, and what their stories tell us about their experiences of emotions and self. Rachel explored similar connections between stories, religion and emotions in workshops she led that combined Torah study and creative writing. She blogs about Judaism, Israel and parenting for The Times of Israel, Kveller and other online venues.
