Award-winning filmmakers Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein will give a hybrid talk about their upcoming PBS documentary series, “The U.S. and the Holocaust.” The event is held by the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

The series closely examines America’s response to one of the defining tragedies of the 20th century. Burns calls it one of the most important he’s ever worked on.

The filmmakers will be joined by one of their interviewees: Daniel Mendelsohn, a descendant of Holocaust victims and the author of the bestseller “The Lost.” The filmmakers and Mendelsohn will participate in a discussion moderated by journalist Kara Swisher, who co-hosts the “Pivot” podcast.

Subjects of the discussion include: How have the Holocaust’s atrocities defined the U.S.? How does its history continue to reverberate through our present? How can we ensure that a tragedy on its scale never happens again?

Please note that online tickets are for the discussion only and do not include a 7 p.m. screening from the series that is for in-person guests.
