Yom HaShoah Commemoration

April 27, 2014 Lexington
emunahlogo_emunahlogo-74

Two years ago, Temple Emunah’s Yom HaShoah program focused on Indifference as the principle weakness of humanity that allows tragedies like the Holocaust – the Shoah – to occur. This year our program will focus on action: in particular on Disobedience Based Upon Moral Conscience in the face of authority and public opinion. Dan Eshet, of Facing History and Ourselves, will be our guest speaker, discussing the role of diplomats, such as Georg Duckwitz of Germany and Chiune Sugihara of Japan, in saving thousands of Jews from Nazi extermination.  Seventh graders from the Temple Emunah Religious School will share their reflections on the dangers of peer pressure/mob mentality.  The Mak’haylah (Temple Emunah’s chorus) will introduce two songs on the decision to Obey or to Disobey.

Temple Emunah is handicapped accessible
