In the tradition of Congregation Shalom’s founding families, our High Holiday services are open to members and non-members alike, no tickets needed. If you are looking for a spiritual home for Yom Kippur, you are welcome to join us for one or more of our Yom Kippur services on Tuesday evening, Sept. 18, and Wednesday, Sept. 19, led by Rabbi Shoshana Perry, with Meryl Gold as cantorial soloist, amid the affirming support of our diverse Jewish community.

Tuesday evening, Sept. 18:

7:30 p.m.: Kol Nidre service. The beautiful Kol Nidre prayer and cello music help to usher in the solemn space of Yom Kippur.

Wednesday, Sept. 19:

9 a.m.: Yom Kippur Family Service. This service is tailored for families with children ages 8-12, but with all the elements of the adult service. This service is not intended for younger children, who are very welcome at the 1:45 p.m. Young Children’s Service.

11 a.m.: Yom Kippur Adult Service. This is for adults and teens.

1:45 p.m.: Young Children’s Yom Kippur Service. Led by Rabbi Shoshana Perry, with Norman McBride providing music, this service is for younger children, toddler through age 7, with accompanying family members. Like the monthly Tot Shabbat service, this service with stories, songs and prayers is experiential and lasts about 45 minutes.

4:45 p.m.: Yiskor, Neilah, Havdallah. Approach the closing of the gates at the end of Yom Kippur and hear the sounds of the shofar. After services end at approximately 6:30 p.m., all participants are welcome to stay for the congregational break-fast. The break-fast meal is provided by the synagogue for all who wish to partake of the traditional meal after services.

Participants at any Yom Kippur service are invited to bring nonperishable food items along for a food drive. There are also other ways to contribute to the food drive later.

If you would like to attend a service but cannot be there, tune into our live stream on the Congregation Shalom Worship page.

To request special needs seating, handicapped parking or use of a listening device for one or more services, please email ritual@congregationshalom.org with the specific services and the special need.
