Founding MothersContinuing our recognition of Women’s History month, we focus our attention a little bit farther back in history, to the founding of our country. Our nation’s early days were tenuous, dangerous and wrought with risk. This winter I had the pleasure of hearing about how women influenced this critical time in our history, from NPR journalist Cokie Roberts. Ms. Roberts read from her new children book Founding Mothers: Remembering the Ladies.  In this children’s version of her bestselling book, Roberts describes the incredible accomplishments of the women who helped orchestrate the American Revolution from behind the scenes. The author shares the stories of heroic, patriotic women whose actions we learn about through letters, private journals, lists, and ledgers. The amazing acts of courage and bravery laid out in this book will keep young reader’s rapt and curious about women in this era and all that went into the founding of a nation.
