What is ReachOut!?

ReachOut! is the answer to your volunteer and community needs. Sign up and volunteer one night a week for 10 weeks. You’ll volunteer with a group  of 8-10 of your Jewish Young Adult Peers. Throughout the cycle you’ll have opportunities to socialize and connect with your group after volunteering, during reflections and conversations, and at Shabbat dinners.

What are the dates for Cycle Five?

Glad you asked! Volunteering begins during the week of February 27th, and will run for 10 weeks. Our launch party is on Feb. 2 and registration will run from February 2nd until February 22rd. Our Shabbat dinners will take place on March 16th and April 27th.

What’s the time commitment?

10 weeks of volunteering, plus two Shabbat dinners. The Shabbat dinners are a fantastic way to get to know your fellow volunteers and to be a part of the community, so we greatly encourage you to attend. And, while we know things come up, we ask that you make a commitment to volunteering. Our partner agents are counting on us, so please only volunteer if you can make at least 7 – 10 of the volunteer sessions. One of our sites, Year Up, asks for a longer commitment- so contact reachout@jcrcboston.org if you have questions!

Will I get my first choice site?

ReachOut! will do its best to accommodate all site requests. Some sites do fill up quickly, so if you’ve got your heart set on volunteering at a specific place- don’t wait to register. Check out our aptly named basic information page to find details about our specific volunteer offerings.

Will ReachOut! fill up?

As there is limited space in ReachOut!, if the program reaches maximum capacity we will notify you that you have been added to a waiting list. Register early to guarantee yourself a space!

What’s the deal with that monkey?

Volunteering should be fun- so we got ourself a mascot. He loves giving back, building community and creating connections. He also glows in the dark and has sling shot action. If this sounds at all like you, you’ve found the right place to volunteer.

Is ReachOut! really as amazing as I’ve heard?

In a word, yes. Poke around our blog, check us out on Facebook and Twitter, and you’ll see what we mean. This is a chance to do real meaningful volunteer work and to develop strong relationships.

What if I can’t do the program this time around?

Can’t do the program this go around? Sign up for our list to receive information about future rounds, and let us know how the program could fit your schedule or other needs better.
