Today was a really nice Shabbat – we had a discussion about inter-generational community difficulties, took a hike, played another bonding game, some more people got killed in word assassins, and a number of us played card games during free time in the afternoon. My highlight of the day, though, was Havdallah and the bus ride back to Haifa from Katzrin. One of the people in the group had never done Havdallah and a number of people had only done it once before. This made the experience especially meaningful and memorable. Singing and welcoming in the week with the enthusiasm and Ruach (spirit) of the group was no exception. We needed to leave for Haifa before we could finish all of our post-Havdallah songs, but once we got back on the bus we resumed singing and talking. The friendship and energy was contagious and something that will give us a great jumpstart to the remainder of the trip. I look forward to the rest of the week continuing to get to know the other fellows!
