Alisa Levine, Education Director of Temple Israel Religious school, in conjunction with area schools and a contribution from CJP created a wonderful art display that showcased Hatikvah. In celebration of Yom Haaztmaut the Nursery School children listened to Hatikvah first so they could absorb the music. They were asked how they felt about the music, what language it was in and if they had heard it before. Most children knew it was Hebrew. Some said they liked the music and only a few said it sounded familiar. Then we began to walk through the show which highlighted each stanza of Hatikvah. They all began to repeat and sign, “Hope in our hearts, hope in our eyes and hope for so many years.”
It was so wonderful to see so many of our former students art work in the show. The children really embraced the meaning of Hatikvah. At the end of the hallway, Hatikvah is written on the wall. The children sat in front of these words and listened again with a video of Israel to end their journey through the dream of the Jewish people.

Can I have “L” show me the art gallery upstairs tomorrow morning when I drop her off? I know the gallery will be around for a week, just want to make sure I can look at it early in the morning. Would love to see it with her and hear her stories about it.”
