JewishBoston.com is pleased to launch Ask A Rabbi, a new feature developed in partnership with CJP’s Interfaith Initiative. By facilitating a structured conversation between area congregational rabbis and you, the users of our website, we hope to provide a resource that is beneficial to both individuals and congregations alike. Ask A Rabbi is for everyone, but designed to be inclusive of and sensitive to the needs of interfaith couples and families.

Our goal is to answer questions about Jewish life in a way that’s accessible to everyone, regardless of knowledge or experience with Judaism. By highlighting local expertise, we’ll introduce participants to congregational rabbis in the area, and through them to our synagogues.

Each week, a new question will be answered by a local congregational rabbi who can speak both from the perspective of his or her own movement while giving context of how others might answer differently, when appropriate. Do you have a question? Ask a rabbi!

We are grateful for the guidance of the rabbis and community leaders who sit on our advisory council:

Rabbi Lev Ba’esh, CJP’s Interfaith Ambassador
Dr. Paula Brody, director of the Reform Jewish Outreach Training Institute
Rabbi Braham David, rabbi at Temple Shalom, Medford and director of the Jewish Discovery Network
Rabbi Howard Jaffe, senior rabbi at Temple Isaiah, Lexington
Rabbi David Lerner, senior rabbi at Temple Emunah, Lexington
Rabbi Benjamin Samuels, rabbi at Congregation Shaarei Tefillah, Newton and Genesis Scholar at CJP
Rabbi Jodi Seewald Smith, rabbi at Temple Chayai Shalom, Easton
Alan Teperow, executive director of the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts
Rabbi Elaine Zecher, rabbi at Temple Israel, Boston
