Do you want to have a direct impact on the next generation of the Jewish community? JewishBoston.com, the digital hub of Jewish life in Boston, seeks a part-time young adult freelance writer to produce a range of high-quality stories on timely Jewish topics relevant to our growing young adult audience. This writer has experience in print and/or online journalism with proven storytelling instincts, expert reporting and research skills, and a portfolio that’s varied in both subject matter and style.

The writer will work closely with the JewishBoston.com director on all aspects of content planning and production and will assist in the creation and posting of online components for story packages in a deadline-oriented environment. They will produce at least one article per week and, when needed, can quickly whip up a compelling story in response to breaking news in the Jewish community.

The ideal candidate is eager to explore Boston’s Jewish community through coverage of a wide range of cultural events and subjects, including, but not limited to, arts, film, food, holidays and Israel. Working independently and with the director, this writer will have their finger on the pulse of Jewish culture in the Boston community to discover and highlight the best of what it has to offer for young adults. The ideal candidate is excited by Jewish culture and has the initiative to own this “beat,” including the ability to shoot quality photographs when necessary.

The ideal writer is dependable, reliable and flexible, and will be able to file stories and photos remotely. They also have the ability to cover events on weekends and nights when necessary.

A strong working knowledge of AP style and Jewish culture, history and religion is a must.
