I love haikus.  created at: 2011-12-13

At any moment, a haiku is appropriate.  For any class, a haiku is an appropriate activity.  For any holiday, a haiku is called for.

So why not for Hanukkah?  In the spirit of haiku and our upcoming festival of lights, I’ve composed a few Boston-inspired haikus that fit the celebratory mood of Hanukkah.

The TD Garden

Should have a big menorah

Not a Bud Light sign

If Paul Revere had

Been a Maccabee then he

Would have lit nine lamps

Latkes are better

Than other holiday foods

And Boston Baked Beans

Smokestacks in Everett

You can see them from Route 2

Chanukah candles?

Our heroes are the

Minutemen and Maccabees

Freedom isn’t free

Ouzo is better

Than nasty Manischewitz

Greek stuff is cool, too

There’s talk of Kevin

Youkilis being traded

That would really suck
