After months of preparation both in Boston and in Haifa, the 2nd Annual Boston-Haifa Connection Hatikvah Soldiers Mission has finally arrived.  Over the course of the next week, this inspiring group of 14 IDF officers from our sister city of Haifa will meet with groups all over the area about their experiences in the military and their connections to the American Jewish community.  We are incredibly excited to host them, for them to learn about our community, and vice versa.

The mission is timed especially so the officers will be with us to commemorate Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, this coming Sunday, May 1st. Officers from the delegation will be at the ceremony at the Holocaust Memorial in downtown Boston, as well as community events in Needham and Newton.

Last year’s delegation did the same, and displayed incredible resolve and pride in their country and mission when confronted by those who attempted to shift the focus away from remembering the Holocaust. Their instinctive response showed exactly why they were chosen to represent the State of Israel.

Particularly for the young adult community, there are a few great opportunities to get to meet and hang out with the soldiers on this year’s mission.
