Beth Hoffman, mother of three, lives in Sharon, where she just completed the Parenting Through a Jewish Lens program. For a list of  our class sites for next fall visit www.hebrewcollege.edu/parenting or contact Elisha Gechter at egechter@hebrewcollege.edu 617-559-8733.

Our Parenting Through a Jewish Lens/Ikkarim class was led by a warm, caring, and intelligent teacher, Rabbi Benjamin Samuels.  He led our group on an inspiring journey through Jewish texts and traditions, with parenting our children as our focus.

Our group of twelve moms, all with young children in the same age range, engaged in interesting discussions. As we explored Jewish holidays from Hanukkah to Passover, and traditions such as saying a prayer (the Shema) when tucking our munchkins into bed at night, we exchanged stories and experiences (and some yummy recipes).

Each of us contributed “hands on” life lessons; each one of us brought something meaningful home to our families.  I/we encourage every parent to explore the gift and the opportunity of this warm and welcoming program, a not-to-be-missed learning experience.
