The Hidden Lights of Hanukkah

created at: 2013-10-27On Sunday evening, November 24th, the Adams Street Shul presents an inspirational pre-Chanukah educational event, featuring the songs and stories of Rabbi Sammy Intrator.   His presentation is entitled The Hidden Lights of Hanukkah.

“Reb Sammy” touches people of all faiths and from all backgrounds.  In his words, “Judaism today needs to get down to its roots and not be divided by its branches.”

Rabbi Intrator was the longtime assistant and concert manager for Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, who himself gave a presentation of music and learning to a packed Adams Street Shul in 1993.  Before he died in 1994, Rabbi Carlebach selected Rabbi Intrator to succeed him as rabbi of the Carlebach Shul, on New York’s Upper West Side, which Rabbi Intrator then led for six years.

Since 2000, “Reb Sammy” has designed and taught inspirational spiritual programs that combine Kabbalistic, Talmudic and Hasidic teachings, as well as ethical and psychological insights, to provide meaning that is not available to most Jews today.

Rabbi Intrator, like Rabbi Carlebach, uses an energetic, celebratory style of prayer, incorporating songs and dancing; and his teaching and preaching inspire with storytelling and music, revealing a Judaism that is user-friendly, authentic, inspiring, alive, and deeply spiritual.

Get ready to elevate your celebration of Chanukah with “Reb Sammy.”  The Hidden Lights of Hanukkah will be a learning with music.  His presentation at the Adams Street Shul begins at 7:30 PM;  maariv will be about 9:30 PM; and congregants are welcome to remain after that for informal activities.

The cost is $10 for those who make reservations in advance.  $12 per person at the door.
