created at: 2013-06-07I started at JF&CS as a volunteer in the CHAI Works day program in the summer of 2006. From my first day on the JF&CS Services for People with Disabilities (SPD) team, the overarching goal of ensuring all participants and residents have meaningful and productive lives was apparent. I saw it in the variety of community programming the department offered, the dedication of the staff, and the voice all participants and residents had in making choices in their lives. Over the past seven years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work in various JF&CS programs and have found that this goal continues to be central.

On May 21, I volunteered at the JF&CS Benefit with three residents from our newest shared living houses. Residents were asked to sell raffle tickets to Benefit attendees. Once again, I was amazed by the opportunities JF&CS provided to SPD participants to ensure they are afforded the same opportunities as their peers.
