The COVID Chronicles Writing Fellowship is a three-month program to help youth and young adults (14-21 years of age) from across the country elevate their voice and share how COVID-19 has impacted themselves and their communities. Through this program, fellows will be paired with dedicated mentors who have proven track records in elevating health equity and social justice issues in the press, social media and through academic discourse. Fellows will receive real-time feedback on their creative outputs—which can be essays, poetry, video or other relevant formats—and will be supported in getting their work elevated to high-impact media, journalistic and academic outlets.

The fellowship is supported by the Massachusetts Community Engagement Alliance (MA-CEAL), Hebrew College, Bridge-Builders Charlotte, the We Got Us Project and the Interfaith Youth Core. Each fellow will be awarded a $500 stipend for participating. The fellowship runs from Dec. 15, 2021, to March 10, 2022. A total of 10 fellows will be accepted.

Applicants must be:

  • Residents of the U.S.
  • 14-21 years of age
  • Able to commit to meeting once monthly with the full cohort and once monthly with their assigned mentor
  • Able to produce one essay (500-750 words) or creative equivalent per month for a total of three outputs

The deadline to apply online is Dec. 10, 2021. The online application can be accessed here.
