In Beginnings, a 4 part series for couples becoming Jewish parents, Rabbi Barry Starr and I will be bringing pregnant and new parents together as they begin their journeys of giving birth and parenting. The series which starts on Sunday April 3 at 11 am will include time for discussion, connection and learning. It is open to the whole community and interfaith couples are welcome.
Rabbi Starr is the spiritual leader of Temple Israel of Sharon, the largest Conservative synagogue on the South Shore and home of the Tiferet Center. Rabbi Starr will share some of the special challenges and rewards of raising a Jewish child. He will explore Jewish rituals surrounding birth, the role of Jewish ritual in family life and the Jewish values that help parents teach their children the holiness of being a good person. I will facilitate the discussions about preparing for the birth of your baby, ways to be supported during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period and making the joyous, major life transition to becoming parents. Participants in Beginnings will receive a copy of Raising Your Child to be a Mensch by Rabbi Neil Kurshan.
