“If The Shoe Fits,” the theme of Epstein Hillel School’s upcoming annual meeting on Tuesday, June 12, at 7:30 p.m., is a reference to our incoming president Mark Farber’s career in the shoe industry. This annual meeting offers a poignant and special evening of recognition and tribute, honoring leaders, faculty, staff and alumni for their longstanding commitment to the K-8 Jewish day school located north of Boston. Bruce Haskin will be the recipient of the Ernie Haas Presidential Award. Remarked outgoing board president Ariel Berger:
“Bruce Haskin has been involved with our school as a parent, board member, treasurer, president and member of our finance committee for many, many years. He lives the values that Ernie Haas exemplified, and he continues with that dedication today.”
The award is named in memory of Ernie Haas, a loyal and active supporter of the school for over 40 years.
At the annual meeting, Mark Farber of Gloucester, an alumni parent board member, will be formally elected as Epstein Hillel’s new board president. At the meeting, Dr. Susan Stahl and Kate Urman will be formally inducted for a three-year term on the Board of Directors. Bob Goldman, Marjorie Patkin and Sue and Bill Stibel will be joining the Trustee Leadership Council.
Special tribute will be paid to Diane Knopf, director of community engagement, and Michelle Unterborn, school nurse, who will be leaving Epstein Hillel. Jessie Winkler will be recognized for her five years with the school.
Alumni Jacob Abbisso (Hillel class of 2014) and Ashley Orenberg Waterberg (Hillel class of 1998) will be presented with the 2018 Adam Madorsky Social Justice Award and will be recognized for their efforts.
The annual meeting is open to the entire community, followed by a dessert reception. RSVPs are appreciated at 781-639-2880.
